Beetle
set for inline skating, 2018
Nowadays, inline skating has become more and more popular, but there is not much equipment dedicated for this sport. That’s why I designed a set for inline skaters.
The whole set includes three parts vital for comfort and safety. It is light, durable and aesthetic and had been inspired by nature, especially by exotic beetles shapes, colours and patterns.
The first part is a belt with pads for buttock, to protect tailbone and ischium bone. It is made from specialized materials designed for similar sporting activities to prevent sweating and grazing. Also it protects you from injuries common to this sport. What is the innovation is the possibility of attaching specially designed bags for the pads.
Another part is backpack which allow to carry around skates and shoes. Its shape is simple and limited to wheel protection. Skater can use it during transportation or while storing at home. It is also fluorescent so while walking on the street with skates in hand user can be easily visible by drivers.
The main material used in the project is cordura for bag and polyamide. The pads are made of breathable textile.
My set is not only comfortable to use but also ingenious. It definitely increases the safety of users, so people can enjoy riding even after dark and come back home safely.
The third and the last parts of the set are attachable bags where skater can hold major equipment. The first one is designed to hold cell phone, keys, hex keys and other stuff like wallet. Second one is indented for water bottle with 0,5l capacity. Last one is for flashlight with teaser function.
